  1. During the 1798 Rebellion Mr William Westby, the owner of Highpark, Kiltegan, who was taking part in the Rebellion gave orders to his butler to hide the silver family plate. Very soon afterwards Mr Westby was killed and the butler was also killed.
    The secret of the hiding place died with them and the story says that it was never found.
    Another story says that small articles, such as spoons, with the Westby coat of arms on them, are to be seen in some of the houses around the district.
