  1. The Townland in which I live is Crossnacole, in the parish of Kiltegan, in the barony of Talbotstown.
The O'Tooles and the Byrnes are the most common names in the barony.
The houses are principally slated. Although there are a good many thatched houses in my district, they are going out of date very quickly as it is very hard to keep them in order, in spite of them being very comfortable.
The dry land is principally sandy although the most of the lands are boggy.
There are no old people in Crossnacole at the present time.
There are the same amount of houses in Crossnacole now as there were in it in olden times.
Crossnacole means the church-land of St Nicholas. There appears to have been an old parish called Nicholston somewhere in this neighbourhood.
