  1. It was situated on the bank of the Barron. It was built by Hugh De Lacy the Anglo Norman.
    There was an under ground passage under the Barron from this castle to Dinn- Roich the residence of the Kings of Leinster in ancien times. Some say that Catholics were persecuted in this castle by the English.
