  1. Long ago many strange things happened which do not happen now.
    Once a big fire broke out in Mr. Doherty's premises. It was thought that a lighted cigarette was thrown behind the counter in the shop one day. The next morning it was seen in blazes.
    The shop was burned t the ground. Luckily it was seen in time and was not let spread. All the articles that were in the shop were destroyed. The fire was so hot that it cracked the glass that was in Messers D.E. Williams window, the other side of the street.
    Mr. J. Dooley rebuilt the premises and started a shop of his own in it.
