    Holy Wells
    In a place near Old Ross called Temple-na-Croagh there are blessed wells. One of these is called "Our Lady's Well", and a white hawthorn grows beside it. A man from nearby from one day decided to cut it when he looked up and saw his own house on fire. He became alarmed and ran to extinguish the flames but when he arrived at the house there was no fire. He took this incident as a warning not to cut the bush. This well has two outlets and each year the waters run from a different outlet.
