Another great battle during the '98 insurrection was the attack on Enniscorthy. The town was well fortified but the Irish saw a way of getting in. They went into a field where there were many bullocks. These they drove out on the road. They stuck their pikes in the bullocks making them run at a very quick pace. The bullocks fearing the pikes charged at the fortification, breaking it open. This enabled the Irish to pass through.
