    Bird Lore
    Wild birds commonly found around Boolavogue district :-
    crow, jackdaw, wood pigeon, plover, pheasant, robin, wren, thrush, black bird, cuckoo, swallow, bean crake, sea-gull, sparrow, wag-tail, bat, owl, tom-tit, green linnet, gold finch, mag-pie, lark, yellow-hammer, snipe, corr-iasg, wild-duck, wild-goose.
    Migratory Birds
    Cuckoo, swallow, bean-creak, plover.
    The cuckoo arrives here towards the end of April. She goes away about the end of July.
    The swallow comes here in April and goes away about the
    Swallows gather together in flocks on the telegraph wires before they go away. They make a chattering noise when they gather together in this way.
    The bean-crake (or corn crake) is heard here when the meadows begin to get high in June. She goes away about the end of August.
