  1. Local Heroes
    Long ago there were five fairs held in Ballycanew. These were recognised occasions for display of fighting abilities. The old people still talk of fights between the Kinsella and Patrick families. These men used tome out in the street and strip off their clothes and fight for hours. Great crowds gathered to watch the fights.
