  1. Folklore connected with Ballycanew Pump
The old pump which was only removed a few years ago was opposite Goslins' public house. At the time of its sinking there was much dissatisfaction because the water was said to come through the graveyard. many people are said to have seen a hearse drawn by two horses coming up out of the the pump and going around the village at 12 o'clock at night then descending into well again. One man who was short-sighted is said to have actually walked into the hearse and hurt his head.
