  1. During the war of 1798 the Deer Park was a great hiding place, which is situated in John's Town. One day there was a priest rushing through the park, and one of the soldiers sprang out on him and tore him asunder, and he lost so much blood that it flowed down the bridge and on to some stones and the blood is to be seen on the stone to the present day.
