Formerly this old chapel was used to teach Latin and here the famous Moyne Seminary had its origin.
The Latin was taught by an old school master named Jack Duffy, nicknamed the "Red Master" his fee was one penny a week from each student.
Later the present Moyne Chapel was built on the day the Bishop came to consecrate it. Those same Latin boys came from the old Chapel in Dromard to see the Bishop.
