    Buying and Selling
    Long ago shops were not common and people had to purchase in the nearest town
    Often when the towns were a good way off buying and selling were carried on after Mass.
    Such things as tea and sugar were bought.
    Sometimes when the people bought things they paid for them with turf and labour such purchases were called "tick - boot" and "strap"
    Tuesday and Sunday are supposed to be unlucky days for buying and selling
    Long ago markets were held at crossroads and on greens but they are not held there now
