    There are very few spinning wheels now. A spinning wheel is something like a sowing machine only there is a bigger wheel on it. Another industry that was carried on was quilting. They made all their quilts out of old blankets and covered them, with different sorts of cotton they had large sticks called quilting frames for stretching them on, so as they could sow them. There goes no tailors now from house to house making suits of clothes as they did long ago.
    Tailoring is a very clean trade but it is very much indoor as well as the Blacksmith trade. Anne Gill was a great quilter she could make a quilt in two days that is she put the cloth on frames and sowed it through the quilts are made from pieces of old cloth of different colours. There are many of these quilts in use in this district. Women also made quilted petticoats which lasted for a very long time, Anne Gill is alive still and is over 80 years of age, she lived at the Mill in a Cottage and she is now living near Longford town, she was also a great
