  1. There is said to be a ghost about Mr. Peyton's house. It is seen at midnight.
    A workman of his heard the yard gate opening, a step across the yard, the kitchen door opening, and the chairs being pulled up to the fire.
    At "Curley's" crossroads - a crossroads in Cloonteagh, there is also said to be a ghost. One time a man was going home from his "ceílihe" on a dark night. As he approached the crossroads he thought he heard the sound of a mowing machine.
    It came nearer and nearer and after a while he had to run as the machine was cutting the heels off him.
