  1. It is said that there are nine horses in lough Ree. They used to come out to the shore every night. One night a man went down to the shore and caught a horse. He brought him home and put him in and worked him for many years. One day when he was coming from the fair he hit him with the reins. He made off as quickly as he could and was never seen again.
