    joining two pieces of board together with leather. The corn was put on the barn-floor and beaten with the buailtin until the grain came out of the hull. It was a very slow method of threshing.
    The flail was succeeded by a machine called the "horse-power". Two horses were yoked to this and were going round in a ring while the threshing was proceeding.
