    "Mill Seeds" and oaten meal, and they used to eat it with milk. People used it late at night before going to bed. The only special foods eaten were plain currant cake and a goose at dinner at Christmas.
    Eggs are eaten on Easter Sunday. Pancakes are eaten on "Pancake night". A goose is eaten on "Michaelmas" Day. These customs apply equally to long ago and to the present. Tea was first used in this district about ninty years ago.
    Up to the year 1900 tea was only drunk every Christmas in this locality. "Noggins" were used before the introduction of tea-cups.
