    a basket, and the vegatables and bacon would be placed on a wooden plate and all would again sit around and eat the dinner and drink their "noggins" of buttermilk. Oaten bread was always eaten.
    Sometimes it was baked on a griddle. Sometimes it was placed on an upright position on the hearthstone supported by two sods, in front of the fire. Thus it was baked.
    Meat was often eaten always salt meat bacon, but fresh meat was eaten at Christmas.
    Fish were eaten frequently. They were caught in the local rivers. The fish were eel, perch, trout, roach, tench and pike. There were no vegetables eaten except cabbage and turnips.
