  1. Local forges
    There are three forges in the parish. The smiths are Martin Devaney, Ballynacargy, Bernard Moran, Balroe, and George Ferrar, Rath. The Devaneys have been smiths for many generations.
    There is also a disused forge in Ballynacargy. It was owned by a smith named Bully Fagan.
    The oldest forge is Moran's forge at Balroe. The Morans were blacksmiths back in the days of the Red Branch Knights. It is said that
