  1. I heard my uncle (who died some 20 years ago at the age of 85) that he remembered an occasion when a sermon was being given in the local chapel an old man near the alter addressed the preacher (unconsciously perhaps) with
    "A athair tabhair in Gaethig dhuinn e."
    Evidently the interrupter was not able to follow the sermon in English.
    The preacher (who knew Irish) was very angry and the man had to apologise publicly.
