  1. Song of Patrick Hester

    My name is Patrick Hester.

    Song of Patrick Hester
    1
    My name is Patrick Hester.
    Near Longford I was born.
    My parents reared me honestly.
And owed no man any scorn.
    2
    The evidence against me.
    Was that in October 97.
    That I shot Bernard Keegan
May his poor soul rest in heaven.
I watch him from behind the ditch,
    Alone as he did pass
And with the gun, I took his life.
    Returning home from mass.
    3
And when I did that awful deed.
    To a neighbour's house I ran.
And in among had and straw.
    I safely hid the gun.
And then afraid I would be arrested
    Returning back in haste
And once again took the gun
And left it in its place.
