    An awful disease called "The Collara" reached our village in the famine years. This disease was brought in first by a showman named Farrelly but it only got as far as the middle of the town because the priest stopped it from going any further.

  2. It is said that the "Spire of Llyode" was build with the relief money during the Penal Days. There is a big pot in Tom Fay's yard which was used for boiling the porridge in during the famine.
