  2. Rush Candles

    There are many other industries carried on around the district of Clonmellon and Killallon besides basket-making, soap-making and the making of calf-baskets.
    For example rush-candles were also made long ago and some very old people make these candles yet.
    This is how the people used to make them.
    First of all many large rushes had to be gathered in a bog, brought home and left to dry for many days.
