    It happened that one night this old beggar was late coming home to the town. He had an ass and cart and no light and fearing guards would summon him he unyoked the ass and put him in the cart and got in between the shafts and pulled the cart himself.
    When he met the guards they asked where was his light and he answered "Ask the driver."
