    on a motor bicycle and when he came to the broken bridge he fell in and received fatal injuries and despite medical treatment he died.
    One night the Black and Tans surrounded a house in Kilbeg owned by Edward Clarke whose son Patrick was a member of the volunteers. There were shots fired through the window of the house and when Paddy heard the shots he jumped out the window ran up Thomastown clothed in a shirt and he went to Thomas Kearneys of Staholmog where he stayed that day and received clothing.
    One night when my grandfather was living at Dan's cross two lorry loads of Tans stopped in front of the house and called him out. Then they searched the house and cautioned him for
