    Then they put a cup on the top of the handle to hold while you are dashing the milk and start-working. It would take about half an hour to churn it in the summer time but in the winter it takes twice as long. It is very tirsome churning with the dash and sometimes you would have to get help. When the people would want to know if the milk (w) was broken they would up a spoonful of the milk. With the dashing of the milk some of it comes out of the side of the handle and they put it in with a spoon. They put water on it occasionaly. The way they put it in is at the side of the handle.
