  1. James Martin the poet was working as a Miller in Oldcastle district at Millbrook. One night when he (he) was asleep he had a vision and he got a choice of any gift he would ask for. He chose to be a poet.
    At that time he had not much learning, and after that he could learn anything. His books and poems became most famous. He travelled foreign to France and other countries. He was highly respected by the clergy. He wrote a book called "The fall on the Angels".
    The Protestants used to speak against him, and they used to call him names such as - "One eyed crooked toes", because he had one eye from the time of his vision. He lived in the Patrickstown hills before he went to Millbrook to work at the mill. He was a labourer working in Lough Crew, before he got his job in Millbrook.
