    We hear the bells of Shandon
    Sound all along the Lee.
    We know the bells of Notre Dame
    Resound down to the sea;
    And the big bell of Armagh
    It doth them all surpass.
    But we only want a little one
    To warn us for Mass.
    (8)
    Now I make no exhortation
    In any moral phase,
    Our brilliant congregation
    May just do as they please.
    I'm but an obscure peasant
    Its true I like them well.
    And now I say respectfully
    You ought to get a bell.
