    Marriages take place in Shrove and before Christmas and after Easter.
    May and August are unlucky months. Friday and Saturday are unlucky days.
    Monday for health, Tuesday for wealth, Wednesday the best day of all, Thursday for losses, Friday for crosses and Saturday no luck at all.
    There are not many matches made here.
    Generally the farming people make matches here.
    The labouring people do not.
    Long ago the bride's father gave money as a fortune and sometimes Cattle.
    They used to be married in the Parochial house about eighty or ninety year ago.
