   they decided to leave and to discontinue the digging. They then left and went a short distance, when one of the men said it was very cowardly of them to go home without testing their dream and they decided to go back again at daylight and remove the large flag. When daylight came they returned to the spot where they had dug and to their surprise the earth they had dug up was returned and no trace of fresh earth to be seen.

   In the neighbourhood of Crofty which lies between Drogheda and Shallon, Mr Owens found a trunk of gold. It is said that when the mail coaches used to be travelling from Dublin with goods and other things that Collier stole the trunk of gold and hid it in a field owned by Mr Owens. Next morning Mr Owens went out to count his cattle and found the trunk of gold.
