  1. In the year of then famine 1847 a cow wandered about this district. The people were nearly as all their crops had failed and milk was very scarce at the time. This cow wandered around the district for a couple of days before any one knew what she came for. At th first the people thought that she strayey away from some body. After a while some one of the people milked her because she seemed to want to milk her. The cow used to be milked about ten times every day and she used to give a bucket of milk to every body that used to milk her. She wandered all over West Clare staying about a week in every district.
