  1. Once upon a time there was a man coming to the west from Ronaldson's wood. It was about twelve o clock when he left to come home. When he was as far as the lake in Scanlon's field a man appeared to him. He knew the man well, because the same man was after getting drowned, and two other men were drowned also the same time, and the man he appeared to was the man that found him dead on the shore. According as the man was goingto the west the ghost was backing along beside him. The man going to the west was anxious for a chat with the ghost on account of he knowing him so well so he put some talk
