  1. At the north of Doolough Lake there is a place called Cúilneach. Long ago when the Catholic Friars were banished from Quin Abbey they came to the Cúilneach. When they cane there they began to build little huts to live in.
    They used to till their gardens, make their own clothes and make their own shoes.There is a lot of old ruins to be seen there today. It is situated in a very lonely spot and it is said that it is there the cuckoo is heard first.
