    The Farmer is Dead:
    Any number of children may join in the game. They are first selected to act the parts of the dead farmer ,the apple tree and the old woman.The "farmer"kneels down and the children dance in a ring around him singing
    "The farmer is dead and in his grave
    And in his grave,and in his grave;
    "The farmer is dead and in his grave
    And in his grave,
    Oh Vo,Vo,VO!"
    At this point the "apple tree",steps into the ring and joins hands with the "dead farmer"while the children sing
    "There grew an old apple tree over his head ,over his head.
    There grew an old apple tree over his head
    Oh Vo,Vo,VO!"
    While the next verse is being sung the "apple tree"allows her hands to fall to represent the falling apples .
    "The apple got ripe and ready to fall
    Ready to fall ,ready to fall.
    The apple got ripe and ready to fall,
    Oh Vo,Vo,VO!"
    Here the old woman enters the ring and begins to pick up the apples which she puts into her apron,the children meanwhile singing :-
