  1. I
The praises of a charming girl
    I am going to unfold.
Her hair hangs o'er her shoulder's.
    Like lovely links of gold.
Her cheeks are a rosy red,
And her eyes are a lovely blue,
She is the pride of the mountain side,
And the maid of sweet Carhue.
    II
She says "young man do you understand
That I am in love with you,
Although you are but a poor widow's son,
To you I will prove true,
There is not a young man in the world
    Will enjoy me but you,
We will join our hands in wedlock's band,
By the shade of Sweet Carhue".
