  1. Local Cures.
    This is the cure for the whooping cough. Get a turnip and peel it cutting in thin slices. Place in a china bowl or basin with brown sugar in alternate layers. Leave over night to form a syrup. A teaspoonful given to a child helps to bring up the phlegm . Also the white of an egg, beaten well with a little viegar is a very old remedy.
    The leaves of blackberries are very useful for hoarseness and affection of the throat.
    Caroway seeds. Used for relieving flatulance and stomach disorders and childrens ailments.
