    Both oaten and wheaten bread were eaten. Shtaimpi-bread made from grated potatoes mixed with a little flour was also eaten.
    Meat was eaten twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays. Salmon was caught in the rivers and cured. Hake was the favorite fish for supper-on Christmas night.
