    Long ago when the Tithe collecting would go around from house to house collecting the tithes some of them would be killed. Once when they were going from one farmers house to the other, they had to go through a boreen. When going through it a crowd of men rushed at them, took all they had killed them all but one sergeant. Because he begged of them to spare his life they cut off his ear in such a way that he would be known if ever he informed on the men. The sergeant never informed. The men were found out and arrested. They were tried by two Judges and Lord Ormond and twelve Porotestant jury men. They were condemned to death. Before death they sent
