  1. One night Lar Ryan was driving the mail car to Goolds Cross. When going along a lonely part of the road on the Maud estate there was a bull tied to a tree with a big chain waiting to be brought to the show next morning. When the bull moaned and the chain rattled poor Lar thought it was Maud. So when the bull put up his head over the wall he thought it was Maud that turned into a devil and so Lar got a terrible fright and he started praying.
