  1. Eamonn an Cnuic the famous raparee, was born in the latter part of the seventeenth century. He was so called because his birth-place was Knock Mehil, Co. Tipperary. One day three gentlemen who were shooting birds met him but they did not recognise him. They were bad shots and they shot but a few birds. Eamonn an Cnuic said that he would fill all their bags with birds. They agreed and lent him a gun and ammunition. Then he started to shoot birds. At every shot he killed a bird. he kept on shooting until the bags were
