  1. Once upon a time there lived a young fisherman who was always poking his nose into the affairs of other people. Not content to find the secrets of the village folk he turned his attention and tried to find where the mermaids lived. Chance eventually helped him. As he was going home one evening he saw something leap out of the sea and enter a cave. He crept to the cave and peeped in, and to his amazement he saw a number of lovely mermaids changing into girls. In a beautiful and large shell there were some beautiful golden ointments which the mermaids rubbed upon themselves as a charm. The young fisherman watched until a groop of laughing girls tripped out of the cave and made their way to
