To cure a sty prod it three times with a goose-berry thorn making the sign of the cross. Another cure for a sty is to look through a wedding ring.

Whooping Cough:
When children had whooping cough or "chin-cough" long ago they were passed under a she-ass three times and the sign of the cross was made three times.
Liver Disease:
To cure liver disease eat dandlion boiled or raw.
