    shop. While he is doing this work some women cut the seed. When all is ready the farmer starts to sow them. If he has not enough help he hires some boys. They sow the seed about a foot apart. Two or three men follow them spreading manure over the seed potatoes. The drills are then closed with the plough which has two boards. When the potato stalk appears over the clay the farmer again takes the plough and puts the earth up nearer to the plant to support it. During the summer months the potatoes are sprayed to prevent blight. In the Autumn the farmer again hires boys to pick his potatoes. The potatoes are often ploughed
