    There was a bill poster in Templemore one time...

    There was a bill poster in Templemore whose name was Ryan, nicknamed Bat. He started shortly after midnight on the 29th of June to the village of Moyne to post bills. He was greatly surprised when he came to our fort and heard the blow of a whistle. Looking over the hedge he saw two hurling teams and the referee throwing up the ball between them. He stood surprised as he near witnessed such a hurling match in his life. They played for a full hour from two to three o clock.
    One team wore green togs and the other green and white. They played a very hard match and when it was over they had refreshment at the back of the fort.
    A short time afterwards he heard a strange noise
