  1. In every district the people look upon certain days as being lucky or unlucky for doing certain kinds of work. For instance potatoes should be sown before the wintry fifth of March or Lady’s Day. On the first of November they plough for wheat. People think it is lucky to change from one house to another on Fridays. There is an old saying which says that work that is started on Saturday is never finished. The days of the old cow occur in April because she boasted she would live until April and she died in March. People think it unlucky to change from one house to another on Monday.
