  1. There is only one forge in the parish of Ballinahinch. Daniel Carr is the smith. His forefathers were smiths but not in this parish. The forge is in Capadine. It is in a field not far from the roadside, near a stream.
    It is a good sized house. There is a bellows, an anvil and a water trough in the forge. The back and front of the bellows are made of wood and the sides are made of leather, There is a pipe out of the front of it going into the fire and a wooden handle on the top of the bellows to blow the fire.
    The implements the smith has are, a sledge, a hammer, for hammering the hot iron, a hammer for driving nails, a pincers for holding the red iron, chisels, punches and several other implements.
