  1. There are forts in this district. They are called forts or raths. There are two forts in Ballycahane. One is called the big fort and the other the little fort. They are in view of each other. They are circular in shape.
    There is a fence of trees round some of the forts and around more there is a fence of earth or stone. There is an entrance hole going into the fort.
    They Danes are supposed to have built themand the fairies are supposed to live in them.
    There is a fort in Greenhall. it is in the Walshe's field. It is a big fort. There is a big fence of trees around it and a bank of earth just behind the trees.
    The owner of the land where the fort is never interferes with it
