The travellers who can afford it have vans horses asses. But the poorer class have to travel on foot.
Most of them travel in bands and are called tinkers.
The best known tinkers that visit our district are Tuohys.
In olden times the people used to gather round the travellers to hear them tell stories about distant places where they had been but this custom is not carried on now. Because we get all our information from the newspapers and the radio.
