  1. There was a man in Ballycahan named Martin Lynch who was a great mower. He used to cut an acre of hay every day. On one occasion he cut an acre and a half in one day. He used to get ten shillings an acre for cutting it.
    The greatest of local members was Henry Powell Shallee. He could mow an acre of heavy callow and more of upland hay in a day.
