    Situated at the rear of Castle St. in my school district is a very strong round tower which was built by the Butlers in the year 1,200.

    139 ft. 2 1/2 ins. and its breadth 26ft. 3 ins. There is a bell belong to the Abbey, at Nenagh Convent, the inscription on the bell is as follows -
    "+ rev. Eug. Callanan procuravite Pro. Conventu St. Fran. - Eraciae 1687"
